'Ask the Conservator' And Find Out How To Save
Your Valuable Paper
Christopher Sokolowski, Assistant Paper Conservator at the Northeast
Document Conservation Center, will answer questions about conserving
paper artifacts during a 60-minute roundtable forum at 2 p.m.
Sunday afternoon, March 20 during Ephemera 25.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their paper collectibles
and ask Sokolowski questions about any aspect of conservation.
The NEDCC was founded in 1973 in response to growing alarm
about the monumental scope of the paper deterioration problem
facing collections-holding institutions in New England. Documents
and artifacts in historical societies, college and university
libraries, public libraries, towns and state archives needed conservation
treatment, but there was no facility within the region that could
provide appropriate services. The NEDCC and its state-of-the-art
labs are headquartered in, appropriately enough, a restored mill
building in Andover, MA.
